About

The German Review of Books has mainly two aims and therefore two main categories. Most of the reviewed books will be non-fiction.

A German Perspective

On one hand we want to give a German perspective on foreign, mainly English books. Because most of them are published in the U.S., sometimes we will provide even a broader European perspective. There is often a special view on how topics could be seen, for instance American books on European policy or on the U.S. itself. Books regarding new developments, say at business or new media, have to be seen in a different context and market. Translated books often are only rendered, but a figuratively adaption is missing. All reviews will be listed in the category German perspective.

German Books

On the other hand we will explain several special tendencies, like German policy and politics in reviewing important German books in English. Probably only a few of them will be translated into English, but a review could give an meaningful insight. All reviews will be listed in German books.

Beside these two formal categories and the special category Interviews, the reviews and articles will be listed in several content-related categories, like Policy & Politics, Islam & Islamism, Marketing & PR, etc.

The German Review of Books is an imprint of the German speaking website BuchTest. Many of the BuchTest reviews will be translated or summarized.

Reviewing Guidelines

We follow some reviewing guidlines, mainly developed in the work for BuchTest. We will translate them soon and present them here.
